Choose Sashimi not Sushi for a Leaner Body

Teppanyaki Shogun Sashimi

Teppanyaki Shogun Sashimi

I’ve lost 3 kg since the Family Christmas/New year holiday yeay! Even thou I was still eating out every night (courtesy of my Amazing brothers and their restaurants) I just picked leaner choices, cut back on the carbs, upped the water, cut out alcohol, and trained everyday.

I love The Fabulous Teppanyaki Restaurant which has amazing Sashimi, I opted for the Shogun mixed platter nearly everyday, as it’s high in protein, good omega fats, and apart from the 4 small pieces of California roll sushi- low in carbs.

You might be thinking whats so wrong with a bit of white rice…well nothing, in moderation but most Sushi Restaurants make their rice with (lots of) sugar to make it bind together and sticky.

Also worth remembering if you have a competition or photo shoot coming up and watching your salt intake, not only is the soya sauce extremely high in sodium (and you have to have soya sauce with Sashimi-it’s a given!) but the fish also contains sodium! So I choose to drop this out of my foods 2 weeks before a big event.

Biancos-Avocado Prawn Salad

I’m in Tenerife staying with family for the Merry Holidays and NY Celebrations, it’s a Beautiful island in the Canaries and my 2nd home.

I’m on a much needed break, relaxing with friends and family while I’m here for the next few weeks.  It’s always GREAT as my family are in the restaurant business and I’m spoiled for choice in quality cuisine ranging from Thai, Chinese, Italian, Bistro and Japanese and not so GREAT as a Personal trainer and Fitness Competitor it’s my job to inspire others and I believe I am my product So with my 1st week here also being Christmas week I let loose…on the Turkey, Gravy, Spuds,Cake, Chocolates you name it I ate it! ……anyway 5lbs later (ahem) I’m back hitting it hard in the gym after a few days getting over the 30hr travel journey THEN the flu-yes I’m that kinda lucky! So now this New Year Celebration week I’m reigning it in, hitting 2 body part’s finished with 30 mins Cardio while my Glycogen stores are low and cooking & ordering LEAN!

BIANCO

My younger Brother Robert owns this Italian Restaurant which is a fave of mine because of the food, the People, the ambiance-Everything is Gorgeous! and it’s not just my opinion its won numerous awards and one of the islands most popular spots.

As you can imagine Italian food is not something a fitness girl like me can indulge in to often, BUT if your careful and order with tweaks watching your weight or not you can make lean choices ;) with my recommendations in all my favorite restaurants here which I will be posting over the next few weeks.

The no;15 Avocado Prawn Salad is high in Protein, Good Omega Fats & Fiber!

(TIP: if you order it without the oil dressing and you make it more of a Thin and less of a Sin x)

Quinoa (no rice) Pudding

I made a big pot of this high protein pudding, 1/2 to freeze and 1/2 to cool
separating in 6 portions.

3 cups of cooked Quinoa
1,5 cups of Almond Milk
-Bring to boil
-slowly stir in
10 whisked Egg Whites
1 tsp Cinnamon

Optional Extras (per serving)

-1 Tbs Chia seeds or Flax seeds
-1 scoop Protein Powder (my fave;)
-1 tsp Agave Nectar

Quinoa is a Super-food with all essential 9 Amino acids, I like to incorporate Quinoa on my Carb re-feed days so I might have this for breakfast instead of my Oats or Pre-Training.

Post Competition Diet- lean but with added Good Foods returned ;)

Thanks Everyone for messages and support on my 1st competition,

Everyone is asking what was my treat meal, well the lads took me to Dempsey hill to Lamborghini’s and I ordered a Wagyu Cheese Burger, with chilli fries and we shared a bottle of Verve Clicquot Rose, later a Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream waffle Brownie mix-to go (and ate it on the sofa as my body needs a rest.)

Today I’m happy to eat clean but with good foods added that are not allowed in Competition diet, fruit, Milk in my coffee, both I haven’t had in 3 months! and Protein Powder, Oats, Peanut Butter which I cut out 2 weeks ago!

No gym today apart from dancing down in Sentosa, Tanjong Beach Bar to see my friends and have a celebration Beer ;)
Tomorrow I will be stronger and back to smashing it at the gym after much needed time out! x

New Website New Blog Coming Soon!

Hey guys, sorry for slow updates but I’ve been so busy and not 100% happy with this template and having 2 websites

www.missnginaction.com & my www.maylingng.com

so have decided to merge them and make my fitness videos prime focus.

So this weekend I’m off to Personal Train in Bali and will have 10 days down time to get this together finally ;)

Living in Singapore the last year I have read the local health Magazines and local Blogs from some qualified opinions and some (definitely) not!  Though very pretty and provocative the blogs look good enough to be out of FHM,                                                         BUT the information on fitness Nutrition is so misleading and knowledge limited????…….. so this new Blog Format will be just what my friends, clients and growing subscribers need all in 1 site. x
